Why 1999 Was AWESOME
Because in 1999...
- Windows 98 had a start button that actually did stuff!
- Everyone used Netscape Navigator AND Internet Explorer simultaneously
- Flash websites were the pinnacle of "interactive"
- Geocities hosted your "under construction" page with MIDI music
- Webrings connected us all in a glorious circle of HTML
- YMail was the coolest email service (until Hotmail)
- Adobe Flash Player 5 was considered cutting-edge
- Everyone wore "I ♥ HTML" t-shirts
- Bandwagon.com was a thing!
- Yahoo! had actual editors selecting websites
- Early versions of JavaScript made blinking text mandatory
